Hey, we have a team hotel for the upcoming October swim meets: The Jameson Inn at Wilmington! Rates are $59/night for a neat, clean room just 10 minutes away from the university pool where the meet is held. The new t-shirt design looks fabulous and it's time for us to get to work finding team sponsors. All sponsorships are $100 TAX DEDUCTIBLE. If each swimmer can get ONE sponsor, that's over 4000 dollars for our club, which means we won't need to scramble around selling Heat Sheet ads for the next two months, AND our club will have a solid operating funds base to draw from. Tell your donors that for their $100 donation, they get a business card sized ad in our November Swim Meet Heat Sheets as well as "advertising" everywhere our team goes for meets (Greensboro, Goldsboro, Wilmington, etc.) and wears our team shirt. We will mail each business a thank you note that includes our nonprofit tax ID (that the business will need to claim the deduction). ALL SPONSOR SHEETS MUST BE TURNED IN BY SEPTEMBER 30TH (sooner is better!) so we can get the shirts printed by our first Wilmington meet. A sponsor sheet is attached, and one will also be posted on the Web site as well as available at the natatorium.
For swimmers that wish to purchase a team suit, we are once again offering
to order the black Speedo suits for you from Action Accents. (You are not required
to buy from Action Accents, but the club does get a percentage of profit from
the suits and typically the prices are comparable to local
retailers.) Try-on days will be Sept 13th-17th. Boy's Speedo jammers are $24,
girl's Speedo Flo-backs are $38, and youth Speedos are $20. Try-on suits will
be available at the natatorium. Additionally, team caps are available for purchase:
the longer-wearing silicone caps are $12, the "everyday" latex caps
are $6. Both include the team colors and logo.
Our next meeting will be October 4th from 5-6 pm at the natatorium. By that
meeting, planning for our swim meet will be in full swing and we'll be looking
for volunteers for concessions, hospitality, timers, and the many other tasks
that are part of putting on the swim meet. All warm bodies are welcome -- It's
a fun weekend and (like any other job), the more hands involved, the more fun
it is for our swimmers, guests, and ourselves! Keep an eye on the bulletin board
at the reception area of the natatorium for all updates and sign-up opportunities.
